Fake Universities in India- As per UGC Act


As per the UGC report, Jan. 2009, there are Twenty two fake universities running across India,

As per the UGC Act, only those universities that have been established under an Act of Parliament or state legislature or granted a deemed university status under Section 3 of the UGC Act are entitled to call themselves universities and confer degrees. But these 22 universities don’t have any registration under the Act.

The universities that have been declared fake are;-

1. Gurukul Vishwavidyala (Vridanvan).
2. Achaltal (Aligarh); Vishwavidyalaya, Kosi Kalan (Mathura);
3. Indian Education Council of UP (Lucknow);
4. Mahila Gram Vidyapith/Vishwavidyalaya, Prayag (Allahabad);
5. Gandhi Hindi Vid yapith, Prayag (Allahabad);
6. National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy (Kanpur),
7. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (Open University),
8. Maharana Pratap Shiksha Niketan Vishwavidyalaya (Pratapgarh), and
9. Indraprastha Shiksha Parishad, Institutional Area Khoda, Makanpur (Noida)
10. Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, Jagatpuri (Delhi);
11. Indian Institute of Science and Engineering (New Delhi);
12. Commercial University Ltd, Daryaganj (Delhi);
13. United Nations University (Delhi);
14. Vocational University (Delhi)
15. ADR-Centric Juridical University, Rajendra Place (New Delhi). Besides,
16. Maithili University/Vishwavidyalaya, Darbhanga (Bihar);
17. Badaganvi Sarkar World Open University Education Society, Gokak, Belgaum (Karnataka);
18. St Johns University, Kishanattam (Kerala);
19. Kesarwani Vidyapith, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh);
20. Raja Arabic University, Nagpur (Maharashtra);
21. DDB Sanskrit University, Putur, Trichi (Tamil Nadu)
22. Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine (Kolkata).
